Malcolm "Snoop" Pope averaged 12 ppg and 9 apg for Prep powerhouse Mount Zion Academy, Tracy McGrady's alma mater. While he was at Mount Zion, he had offers from Albany, Iona, New Hampshire and Quinnipiac. He also had interest from schools like UVA, St. John's, Memphis and UNC Charlotte. For the 16U hosts, it was a great homecoming as they took home the championship in a battle against the Howard Pulley Panthers. As for the 17U squad, they lost a heartbreaker on a buzzer beating 3-pt shot from the Howard Pulley Panther's 17U point guard.

Starting as a freshman, Beal averaged 8 points and 3 rebounds. He then took his talents national when he joined the St. Louis Eagles AAU program. Beal found some high-level competiton, and college coaches found a high-level talent. As the summer progressed, Beal began to pick up scholarship offers from high profile programs.
